It is actually a first take improvisation. As to the many requests I then transcribed the solo.

Is this actually improvised? Or an arrangement? It seems far too elaborate. I suppose it’ll depend on your definition of improvisation.

    Either way, simply amazing.

Hi Dries, I think it is absolutely necessary to learn some licks and combine them with your own playing, otherwise you will end up “doodling” along with the chord changes. All great guitarists have a certain amount of licks that they use in their playing. Most of the time it doesn´t sound like they are playing precomposed lines because the larger their “lick library” becomes the more they can vary their playing.

Very nice ! One thing i’m not sure about though : When you use Am7 arpeggio over F#m7b5…
Theoretically you consider the chord as substitution for dominant D7 and think it as a II-V in C, therefore you play on the II > Am7…am I right ? I know I’m overthinking but I like to understand step by step :)

OK, I went and looked at this clown MIKEPEARTNOY; one video says “NEOCLASSICAL”, but he’s clueless as can be…if you want to pretend you have NEOCLASSICAL chops you should be able to play straight Classical….Ha, it’s also just a made up category. There’s no such music and every dope that claims to be NEOCLASSICAL is not able to play Classical.

Jazz its such an amazing style. It’s hard to believe this is a improvisation!

  • ElComadreja777 11 years ago

In jazz you play a different scale(s) over each chord although there are times when you can use a pentatonic or a blues scale for a lot of applications.

This is just noise. Watch my video for some real music.
