Sitting Positions by Peter Vogl is a free video lesson for beginning guitarists. Playing guitar can often be a struggle between what is comfortable and using proper form. Peter will show you a casual position, a classical position using a foot stool, and a knee up position. The constant idea is to keep your body loose and relaxed while also maintaining control of the guitar. Video Rating: 4 / 5

Nice video Peter. Finally I got correct sitting position after watching your video. I just started learning and my tutor just asked me to sit in casual position we did’t even try classical position. I was struggling a lot with casual position and as you showed I used to lift my leg thinking it is more comfortable. Thanks for the video.

I completely agree with classical position. I feel more comfortable playing in that position rather than the casual.

Thanks for showing the “classical” seating postion. I thought I was an oddball because I always play with my guitar on my left leg. It just felt more comfortable from the beggining. I tried setting it on my right leg, like I see in just about every video, but I don’t play as well. Now I don’t feel as though I’m doing it “wrong”!
