More tutorials IN ORDER at www.waltribeiro.net Twitter = http The Guitar has 6 strings on it: EADGBE Every fret allows the notes to go up a half step, So they all have sharps and flats except from BC and EF: AA# BCC# DD# EFF# GG# When learning the notes a great trick is to make ‘hit points’ throughout the neck of the instrument. Use your knowledge of Octaves and Unisons to understand it better. www.waltribeiro.net More videos at http

another thing is that what is called the middle C is actually the C note on the first ledger below the staff in treble clef, and is also the C note on the first ledger above the staff in bass clef. essentially these 2 notes are the same note just marked differently because of bass and treble clef.

let me see if i can explain a little. deplending on were the note is on the staff depends on where you would fret that note, also not progression plays a role in that too. you could play the song iron man in 2 different parts on the guitar, you would just have to move up 5 frets and go down on the strings and you would get the same exact notes and be able to play the song, its just easier to play when its higher up on the neck. that’s all it comes down to is where its more comfortable to play.

it depends on where the note is on the staff. fist line in staff is E and the fifth line in staff is also E, so these 2 E’s are octaves. if you where playing the G note, which is the 2nd line, you would play that with an open G on the G string, and you would play the higher octave G if the G note was above the
    Staff. hope this makes sence

Or you are not pushing hard enough

  • siloPIRATE 11 years ago

    1st fret B string is C I think
The lowest E on the guitar is the 6th string played open, so on sheet music that would be the 3rd ledger line below the stave/staff (sp?) because sheet music goes up in pitch as you work up the stave. The highest E would be above the stave on a ledger line. The rest can be worked out. Sorry if it didn’t help much, learning it myself now

You can use sheet music (notes) or tab to play. Either way you’re still playing notes

    Very helpful :P

Also, in case none of watching this have noticed, F# is also G♭. That goes for any note, I believe, except for maybe the E to F and B to C…they also have sharps and flats, but I think with a different way of finding them. Though I could be wrong…I still need to learn more myself. (And this is just in case any of you were wondering, “Hey where’s all the flat notes he keeps talking about?”)
