He’s playing blues, so ring finger is better cause it gives more power on bending compared to your pinky finger.
he says “anal” on 0:30
penta = 5
Tonic = tone(s)
your scale has six tones in the first octave.
Thanks Tim. I learned this pattern a while ago from a friend. Practiced it but never knew how to really use it or what it was really. Stupid question. What chords would you be able to use this with?
Ok. After all this time ive found it ..thanks
It’s a Pentatonic+
thank you !
thank you i learn a lot
He is adding the “blue” note to the scale, he should also add its octave on the g string if he is going to do it, but its all good!
Thank you! This simple lesson just made my eyes opened to the guitar’s world !!!
great look at your interpretation, don’t know why you stick that blue note in when your showing the penatonic still I find it very informative, love the bends.
the opening cord is almost always the key. if you have a music sheet the the sharps or flats in the stave show what the key is.
Real fun has started in 5.17 min
Great vid man!
Blues guys don’t use there pinky on the high notes, the ring finger is stronger for bends.
Use your pinky!!!
thats the blues scale
yepp
when you play the open string as E, the notes go in the order: E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F… There are half steps between E and F and between B and C. There are whole steps between all the other notes. You move up 1 fret for half steps and 2 frets for whole steps. Hope that helps.
And if the top string is E (lowest pitch) how is the 5th A? How does that work?
@CwiczPompki how do you find out what key a song is in?
No problem. If you’ve got any other questions about guitar playing, just pm me.
ok thanks.
Yes, if you play it starting on the third fret (which is a G sound), you’re gonna have G pentatonic/blues scale (depedning if you add the extra note).
Cool!
just learned why there is a great difference between Carlos Santana and everyone else ( he use more pentatonic combination in a song than others in 10 )
marty we love u!!!!!
The 12 E scale star on 12th fret (root-E), in fact as shown in the video you star t one hole step (a tone) below the root, in the 10th fret and follow the same pattern. there is a map in the J guitar site, just look for blues scale calculator, E.
slow down
thank you its a great help.yo marty

Any key. Just move the shape around on the guitar neck so that the root note is whatever note you want the key to be. Look up the CAGED system.

You always preach: Practice S-L-O-W-W-WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW….. But you flew by so fast.!
Marty, thank you!
You teach about the B minor scale. OK so far and thanks a lot – but how could it work with E minor (which is more usual IMO)? I will try to figure out it by myself, but maybe further on you can show?
