start slow. then increase speed, only method to music,
Its probably because you need to hold more of the pick so only the very tip (3-4mm) is allowed to contact the strings. Also, if you are just beginning its more helpful to play this slowly and perfectly before you try to speed it up. The key to good speed is actually slow practice!
gitbat, can you tell me why every time i try to pick fast, i just keep sticking behind the string…
its anoying

What kind of guitar do you have? I’m about to start learning, and I’m looking for a good guitar. I want to be able to play stuff by bands like Maiden, Helloween, and Sabbath.
Hell yeah. When he first started playing, I thought he was playing that song.
try resting the base of your palm somewhere or your pinky!
I had the opposite problem. When I first started playing my fingers were moving faster than my train of thought, and it was hard to learn solos because my fingers were fast enough to learn them but my brain was too slow to get all the notes down. You just gotta keep practicing.
