It’s also a good idea to play your part to as many people as possible like your parents or friends. Like that it wont feel too different when you play to an audience. Nobody listens to what the bassist does anyone so don’t worry ;)

Thx George. I plan to have my bass outta the layaway by the end of this month. I’m just going to Guitar Center playing with their toys until then.

The best way to not be nervous is to know that you know your stuff. Also, when playing in front of an audience, make sure you focus on the task at hand (the music) and not the (perceived) surrounding circumstances, such as “what will people think” etc.

I’ve been playing guitar for 3 years off and on, I just got a bass guitar and because I just got offered to be in a band (being bassist) I need a little help. Our first gig is in 4 weeks and we are playing two of our own songs. We practice for 45 minutes during weekdays (at lunch, im in highschool) and 2 days on the weekends. I have never played in front of a group and am nervous, any tips for not being nervous or playing or anything? (im new to your channel so im watching your videos)

That’s a good plan. As I say in this video, it is useful to be able to “talk shop” and be prepared.
