Root shapes enable you to find one note on the guitar from another with the same name that you might already know and so expand your knowledge of the guitar fretboard organically.     this was incredibly helpful, so happy i stumbled upon it, because i actually was trying to teach myself the fretboard one string at a time. now this is a very cool way to find the notes all over the fretboard, thank you so much!
