Lefty power!! Lol. I can play a right handed turned around for scailes. But I’m not good enough to go and by a right handed guitar, it sucks walking into guitar center lol
Have you always been able to play with either hand or did you have to work at one or the other? Are you better one way or the other? I’ve never known anyone able to play just as well either way. That must be an amazing thing to witness.
I’m right handed at everything except guitar playing. I’ve always though of myself as a (mediocre) right handed guitar player. I mean, to me the fretting hand has the harder job so wouldnt it make sense that the way I play IS actually right-handed? I’ve tried to play the “real” right handed way and I go from mediocre to terrible.
i’m ambidextrous and i never know which hand to play with so i just play with my left just to be different. too many righties in the world lol
Ive played right handed for 7 years and left handed for the past 4 and I’m already a better lefty then i was righty things just connect so much easier with the way i hear music and express what I’m hearing in my head.

Hi Mate, yes your right. The first few years I played guitar (over 30 years ago) I played with the strings upside down but then flipped them round the right way. I was recently changing the strings on my friends right handed guitar and i thought I’d give it a quick go to see if I could still do it (hence the video). I take my hat off to players such as yourself though who stuck with it its great to see!

I think he plays much better the correct way even though I’ve been playing right handed guitars strung right handed for 25 years, I still come across some songs very difficult to play… his phrasing and bends, the riffs are smoother on the 2nd guitar….

This is true, but from what I’ve read, he could play left-handed on an unmirrored strung right-handed guitar.

You posted this a year ago, but still I’ll answer. I’m left handed, and I had the same problem when I started, so one day I took the guitar in both ways and I chose the one I felt most comfortable, which was playing as a lefty.
By the way, there are guitarrists such as Janick Gers who are left handed and play it like right handed, so…
Actually there’s a theory Kurt Cobain was bi-manual, and that he choosed to play lefty in tribute to Jimi Hendrix.

Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix were righthanded and played a lefty guitar, so it really doesn’t matter. Choose what’s more comfortable. I’m right handed too, write with my right hand and do all bunch off stuff with my right hand BUT I play a lefty guitar.
