Why should the secondary dominant be a major chord? I mean from Dmin (the ii of the C scale), the v’th in a minor scale or aeolian mode is a minor chord as well … What am I missing?

I have not seen these in Justin’s ON Line shop: it’s not good all this forgetting, I was once told but I don’t remember why that is though. It’s a funky sounding guitar. Might be something to do with that F# at 7:39 : )

Regarding IVb7 going to viib7b5. Happens in contemporary Gospel worship or ballad type music in extended tags or turnarounds. Sounds OK once you keep the harmonic progression going. It smooths out. Love your subscription.

One thing you can try instead of the F#7 to Bdim is to treat the chord as a G7 (or even G9) without the root and then just use D7 as the corresponding dominant – maybe something like: Cmaj7 – D7 – Bdim – B7 – Em…
