I strongly urge every beginning Bassist to learn how to read. Not doing so will only shut you out of a great deal of information and knowledge. So the best way to start is to get used to looking at the music while you play some very simple exercises. Well learn to understand what the differences between whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, triplets and sixteenth notes are, and how to establish good practice habits to familiarize yourself with them. Ill also talk about the need to learn how to mute the strings that you are not playing and give you some tips to start working on. I will also give you some tips on right hand technique to help you get a nice consistent tone out of your Bass. i play guitar and its still pretty hard to play bass…
I played clarinet, I played guitar, I played piano, I played violin, I played chelo, I played drums, I played fuite, but I want to try something different so I chose bass
I’m a guitarist trying to play drum, so fuck my self
i’m the drummer in my band, but my friend knows a guy who is fucking amazing at drums and i think i would wanna learn how to play bass.
i use to play a clarinet now trying to play bass
I just got a new bass today, can’t wait to start learning :3
I play guitar but something about bass really fascinates me.
GREAT VIDEO!! m/
Just stick at it! I found bass *really* difficult at first, (and I play guitar). It took me a few months to get comfortable with it. But don’t *force* your fretting hand into a vice-like grip, keep it nice and relaxed. I found playing scales half-way up the neck a good way to build up the right amount of strength. Without a relaxed technique, you will never be able to play quickly. And have *fun* – it’s a cool instrument when you get it.
Norm……..
I play trombone at school and i finally got a bass guitar
nah don’t play bass :p as long as you love the sound you can learn any instrument…you can get much more of a variety of sounds from a guitar than a bass anyway
imma flute player and i want to play bass….
i have a gotoh 201 on my fender MIM its really good but the E string saddles are loose and i lose tone. it sounds awful. other strings are fine their saddles dont move without proper adjusting. the E string saddles can be easly twisted with my own hands. it wont stay stiff. anyone know what to do? should i swap for BAII?
This is awesome! i played trombone so figured bass would be easier to pick up than guitar
Same!
Basses provide the basic heartbeat of the music. without it the music has an empty sound. bass in any type of music gives it life, a heartbeat, or that rich tone.
Clarinet player wanting to play bass soo badly….i have never witnessed something so hard lol
Im a drummer trying to play Bass, ahh so hard :/
Should i cut my nails when i play the bass?
What is the purpose of the bassline in music?….help
Raising the pick-ups I think can give it a grunge-ier sound.
Okay so I’m in a band and it’s more of a rock/punk band… Are there any tips or tricks you can give me to be better at getting that punk vibe?
Then don’t watch the video.
just get a cheap one i got a used esp for around 150$
Ive just noticed my fingers are genetically screwed up, I mean they reallu dont look normal dammmmmn
Thanks. That helped out a lot. I have yet to own a bass, but I frequent Guitar Center as often as possible to practice the things I’ve learned from the bass tutorials.
i think flats and sharps are the same notes, like g sharp is also a flat on treble cleff (and i think bass cleff, too)
Thanks!
Look seem easy but difficult to play.
bass guitar is freaking difficult!
Kids learn your enharmonics
Riculously awesome ^w^
after all flats are just sharps but of other notes… if that makes sense
Read the description. I would say yes.
hahaha same here
I can do the #’s but not the flats lol I’m a bigginner and I got the strings mixed I thought g was top and e was bottom but it’s the other way around
My brain is hurting
AMAZING!.. thanx )
seems a little hard to remember all that;/ im a beginner haha:)
his shirt is retro badass
play. when you listen to music, tap out a rythmn to it,learn songs that make you practice your timekeeping(try what’s my age again) and play songs that interest you and are fun on bass(try dani california and most of the chili pepper’s stuff) and dont forget to learn at least the basic scales like minor minor harmonic, major etc. but the most important thing is love to play. if you dont youll get bored and stop so make sure its not tedious boring work. oh and improv-ing and writing really helps.
screw the letters i use numbers
is this stu hamm? I cant tell.
are the fretboard placements the same on the electric guitar?
im having poblems with picking the strings with my fingers the strings keep ringing becuase i always endup hitting the fret board
ok im starting a band with my friends i want to get really good what do you recomned any tips?
Ye, think you’re right, although, Fb = E and E#=F
